Point Lookout, MO – Carolina University Women's Volleyball wrapped up their NCCAA National Tournament run this weekend with a tough three-set loss to Bethel University, concluding their postseason journey. The Bruins fought hard but fell to the Lions with set scores of 18-25, 15-25, and 18-25 in their final matchup of the tournament.
After a grueling morning match, Carolina struggled to find their rhythm, having already battled both the #1 seed and #4 seed earlier in the tournament. Bethel, the #5 seed, entered the contest with a 1-1 tournament record. Despite the loss, the Bruins showed resilience and determination throughout the match.
Offensively, Sion Murrain led the charge with 10 kills, showcasing her power at the net. Defensively, libero Rebecca Walker anchored the back row, tallying 10 digs and providing stability in serve receive. But the Bruins struggled to finish points as Bethel's defense held strong, outlasting Carolina in longer rallies. The Blue and Gold managed just a .032 hitting percentage.
While the outcome wasn't what they hoped for, the Bruins' performance in the tournament highlighted their grit and determination. This match marks the end of Carolina University Women's Volleyball's 2024 postseason, but the team's growth and fight all season long have set a strong foundation for the future.
