Virginia Beach, VA — Carolina University Women's Volleyball faced off against Regent University and Clinton College this weekend in the NCCAA South Region Tournament. The Bruins emerged victorious, claiming the South Region Title and earning a bid to Nationals.
In their matchup against Regent, the Bruins battled the Royals through four closely contested sets, with scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-11, and 25-23. This was the second time Carolina had faced Regent this season, and both matchups followed a similar pattern. The Bruins took advantage of their familiarity with the Royals, identifying key defensive weaknesses. Offensively, SarahElizabeth Samuels led the charge with 11 kills, closely followed by Sion Murrain with 10. Defensively, the Royals struggled to execute their attacks, while Kamra King anchored the Bruins' defense with an impressive 29 digs, helping seal the Royals' fate and sending Carolina to the championship game against Clinton College.
In the championship match, the Bruins dominated Clinton College, taking the Bears down in three quick sets with scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-17. The Blue and Gold made quick work of the Bears, leaving no doubt that they deserved the win. Carolina exploited Clinton's serve receive, with Syvannah Poore contributing three service aces. Teammates Suarez and Walker added two aces each, further solidifying the Bruins' dominance. With this victory, the Bruins punched their ticket to Nationals, cementing their place as the South Region champions.
