Advance, NC- The Carolina University Women's Soccer team showcased their resilience last night, hosting the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College for their second match up of the season. Battling through rainy conditions, the Bruins emerged victorious with a thrilling 3-2 win.
The first half began quietly, but the Pioneers broke the deadlock with an early goal. In response, Bruins forward Sidney Smith found the back of the net, assisted by Natalie Puskar, making it 1-1 just before halftime.
Fueled by their momentum, the Bruins exploded out of the gate in the second half, scoring two goals back to back. Alexa Anderson and Ashley Sanchez tallied each of their own, with Puskar delivering assists on all three goals. The Pioneers managed to score one last goal before the final whistle, but it wasn't enough to tip the scales. The Bruins clinched the game with a final score of 3-2.
Women's Soccer will be back in action next Wednesday at 6:00 PM at home, taking on Bob Jones University.
