Winston-Salem, NC - Carolina University Women's Soccer played against Salem College on Saturday, September 24th at 2:00. The match was held only a few minutes from the Carolina U campus against this local team. Last season, CU won in overtime in a competitive match against Salem. In an eventful start to the match, Carolina University scored in the 8th minute. The Spirits worked hard on offense, attempting 21 shots, 13 on goal, but were unable to convert. The Bruins' defense remained strong and locked in the victory for a final score of 1-0.Â
Freshman Alessandra Lopez (3) scored a goal for Carolina U at 7:04, assisted by Natasha Mariam (6). Sarah Walters played all 90 minutes as goalkeeper and recorded a career-high of 13 saves.Â
The Bruins are now 6-3 in the season and have earned their third win in a row. CU will host Campbellsville-Harrodsburg on Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 at Truist Sports Park.
