Columbia, SC - Carolina University Women's Soccer played in the NCCAA DI South Region Championship on Friday, November 18th. The Bruins were 12-5-1 on the season and ranked #9 in the Nation. They faced Bob Jones University who went 14-4-1 on their regular season. This was the first matchup against Bob Jones this year. CU set the tone, scoring in the 10th minute of the match to take the 1-0 lead. Bob Jones attempted to score 6 times in the first half but were unable to convert. The Bruins held off BJU from scoring in the second half, despite their 11 attempts and finished with a score of 1-0.Â
The Bruins defense shined in this challenging match. Alessandra Lopez scored the winning goal for CU at 9:36. Sarah Walters played all 90 minutes as goalie and recorded 13 saves.Â
Carolina University Women's Soccer will advance to the NCCAA National Championship as the #5 seed. They will play on Tuesday, November 29th against #8 Columbia International University and #2 Roberts Wesleyan University on November 30th. Follow along on cubruins.com for the next match!Â
