WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- The Carolina University Men's Basketball Team hosted Johnson & Wales University on Saturday, December 4th. The Bruins played the Wildcats in Charlotte earlier this season. The game was extremely competitive, but ended with a 1 point victory for JWU at home.Coming off a road win, CU was determined to defend their home court. The Wildcats and Bruins traded baskets early, but the Bruins maintained the small lead throughout most of the game. Carolina University went on a 7-0 run in the late first half and came out after halftime with the same energy. The Bruins would earn the win by a final score of 69-59.
Micah Cooper led the Bruins with 23 points and 9 rebounds on an impressive 6-10 shooting with 2 late game triples and 9-10 from the charity stripe. Solid contributions also came from Kester Ofoegbu and Andrue Aguilera. Ofoegbu ended the evening with 15 points and 12 rebounds - a huge double-double. Aguilera scored in the double digits scoring 13 points while shooting 50% from the field.Â
Carolina University improves to 7-4 overall with the win. The Bruins will travel to Denmark, SC, on Tuesday, December 7th, to play Voorhees College before returning home next Saturday, December 11th. During the last matchup between the Tigers of Voorhees University and the Bruins of CU, the Bruins won a hard fought game at home. Both sides are expecting a very competitive rematch that is scheduled to tip at 7:00 PM.
