KNOXVILLE, TN -- Carolina University Men's Basketball traveled to Johnson University on Saturday, January 26th. Earlier this month, these two teams played an extremely competitive game with Johnson University narrowly edging out the Bruins 74-71. This highly anticipated rematch was expected to be close and did not disappoint. The Bruins had a hot start and found themselves up 18-11 after an Ofoegbu 3. Johnson University was able to hang around and hit 5 three-pointers to close out the half with a 44-42 advantage. However, Carolina University was up to the challenge and regained the lead in the second half 56-54. The two sides continued to trade baskets, and neither side was able to gain much of advantage. Johnson University had a single possession lead late in the game and made their free throws down the stretch. The Royals escaped with the win, 86-82.
Kester Ofoegbu was incredible for the Bruins as he scored a career-high 32 points including a personal best 3 makes from behind the arc. Ofoegbu also grabbed 9 rebounds and made all of his free throws.
Micah Cooper also secured 9 rebounds to go with his 19 points.
Andrue Aguilera and
Dillon Voyles were also in double-figures for the Bruins with 18 and 11 points respectively.
Carolina University is now 4-6 on the season. The Bruins will be back in action on Saturday, January 30th at Hosanna Bible College. In their first meeting this season, CU was able to win 102-48 at home.
