WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Men's Basketball hosted Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday, February 2nd. The Bruins had beaten the Eagles twice on the road this season, but each were very competitive matchups. Toccoa Falls got out of the gates fast scoring 47 first half points. The Bruins scored 38 of their own and were still within striking distance down just 9 at the half. Each time Toccoa Falls tried to extend the lead, Carolina University had an answer and made their move with just under 4 minutes remaining in the game. Three different Bruins scored in a 5-0 run that made the score 76-71. Carolina University continued to fight and made it a one possession game with 16 seconds remaining. The Bruins were able to get the ball back and had a chance to tie, but the shot would not go this time. Carolina University came up just short 79-80.Â
Several Bruins were fantastic in this one.
Micah Cooper had a near triple-double with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. Cooper also generated 4 of the Bruins' 9 steals.
Kester Ofoegbu continued his dominance with a game-high 27 points which included several high-powered dunks to jump start the energy at Williams' Gymnasium.
Maurice Peyton Jr. made his presence felt with 12 points off the bench for the Bruins.Â
Carolina University will play next at home when they host Voorhees College on Friday, February 5th at 7:00PM.Â
