Bruins Drop First Pool Play Match

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University opened the NCCAA National Men's Volleyball Invitational with Pool Play against Campbellsville University. Campbellsville started off hot and raced out to 1-8 lead in the first set. The Bruins got back on track, but dropped the first set 13-25. The Bruins really pushed the Tigers in the second set. Carolina University had the score knotted at 6-6, but the Tigers went on a run and pulled away to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The Bruins were resilient and challenged again in the third. Despite being down 12-7 early, CU went on a 4-0 run to bring the score to 11-12. In the end, the Tigers had too much fire power and won the third set by a final score of 25-17.

The Bruins fell 3-0 in the first pool play match, but Coach Ferguson was still very positive. "I'm really proud of these guys for continuing to play hard and stick together. Campbellsville is a really good team and we didn't back down from that challenge." Tijhmir Glasco brought the energy for the Bruins flying all over the court. He led the team with 8 assists and had a match high 7 digs. Steven Wilson led the team with 4 kills.

The Bruins will continue on a the NCCAA National Men's Volleyball Invitational with another Pool Play game against Lancaster Bible College at 7PM ET.
