MOCKSVILLE, NC - Piedmont Baseball could not recover after Montreat University went on an early lead, winning the game 12-6.
PIU scored their first run in the bottom of the second as Koda Bullard hit a sacrifice fly for Drew Martin to run in. Harrison Vaughan and Talon Greene pushed the score to 3-5 late in the fourth.
The Bruins would wrap up the scoring with three runs in the seventh inning. The rally was led by a single by Matt Tullock and a sac fly by Drew Martin.
Darin Spivey took the loss for Piedmont, lasting four innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out five.
The Bruins racked up 11 hits on the day. Kevin Greenwood, Wesley Ambrose, and Bryan Deegan all collected multiple hits.
Piedmont will head on the road this weekend as they play Benedict College in a weekend matchup (Feb. 22 and 23).
