WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Bruins Men's Basketball hosted the undefeated Alice Lloyd Eagles on Saturday, November 7th. The Bruins were coming off a tough loss at CIU and looked to bounce back against a very good Alice Lloyd squad. CU had the early sense of urgency and jumped out to a 14-0 lead following some great transition buckets. The Eagles took some time, but got back into the game and even took a lead into halftime. Carolina University regrouped during break and clawed their way back into the game. The Bruins fell behind by as many as 15 in the second half, but did not quit. Coach Williams' defensive-minded group slowly but surely chipped away at the end and pulled within 5 points with 2 minutes to go. However, the Eagles would make their free throws down the stretch and hang on to win this one 67-64.
Kester Ofoegbu led the way in this one for the Bruins with a game-high 21 point 10 rebound performance.
Andrue Aguilera and
Daniel Benjamin also reached double figures with 10 points each.Â
The Bruins moved to 3-2 after this game and will get a rematch with the 3-0 Eagles on Monday, December 7th in Pippa Passes, KY. In the meantime, Carolina University will travel to Cleveland, GA to play Truett McConnell University. TMU is another Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent for the Bruins and they sit at 1-1 after their first two contests of the season.Â
