Bruins Volleyball Stumbles Against Life University

GREENVILLE, SC -- Carolina University Women's Volleyball played Life University in the second match as a part of a Tri-Match hosted by Bob Jones University. The Bruins fell behind early in the first set, but didn't quit. CU battled back, but fell just short as Life University secured the 1-0 lead. The Eagles carried that momentum into the second set and found themselves up 2-0 on the Bruins. Coach Brenn Ferguson was able to rally her squad and the Bruins battled. Carolina University showed their resilience by securing the 29-27 victory. Despite the great effort, Life University outlasted the Bruins in the fourth set with a 25-22 victory to clinch the match 3-1.

Coach Ferguson appreciated the fight by the Bruins tonight. "We are going to continue to get better, but you can't teach the competitiveness. Our girls play really hard, and I'm very proud of that." Life University was a 20 win team last year in NAIA, and the Bruins didn't back down from that challenge. Chiara Mottola was one of those Bruins that rose to the occasion to tie her season high with 12 kills. Freshman, Kamra King, also stepped up with 29 assists and no set errors.

After this Tri-Match, Carolina University Volleyball moves to 1-2 on the season. The Bruins will get an opportunity to bounce back on Monday, October 12th when they travel to Knoxville, TN to challenge Johnson University.
