WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The PIU Lady Bruins kicked off the 2020 season with a dominant performance against the Royals of Regent University in a Friday night matchup.With five players scoring in double digits, Piedmont won by a score of 105-53.
Lexius Houzer opened up the scoring for the Bruins in the first quarter with a layup in the paint. Houzer would score a total of 10 points in the game, but miss an opportunity for a double-double by one rebound, as she concluded with 9.
LeOnzerrae Grubbss was quiet in the first two quarters before coming back, hitting three-pointers for the rest of the game. Grubbs led the team with 20 points and two rebounds.Â
Brianna Best played an integral part in the Bruins offense as she was under the basket ready to make plays for the Navy and White.
Best would score a total of 18 points, eight rebounds while
Lenzi Brown added 12 points, seven rebounds, and
Zyniah Kesler 11 points, three rebounds.
After the cancelation of tomorrow's match against the Apprentice School, PIU will next host Columbia International University on Tuesday (Jan. 13) at 7 PM.Â
