Winston-Salem, NC -- With it being the last home game of the season and Senior Day, senior
Noni Kuumba pulled the Lady Bruins to a 76-70 victory over the Florida National University Conquistadors.
Kuumba recorded one of her best games of the season, putting up 26 points, 9 rebounds, 8 turnovers, 7 steals, and 2 blocks. She also went 7 for 8 at the line.
"We always look to Noni for her leadership," said Coach
Toccara Tatum. "She has a very high [basketball] IQ and most of the time get [the team] going."
The Lady Bruins trailed majority of the second half, but it was Kuumba and
Trinity Stark who sparked the change in momentum. Stark made the basket to tied the game up at 69. In the final two minutes, the Bruins scored 9 points verse the Conquistadors 1.
Only three Lady Bruins scored in the double digits: Kuumba with 26,
Trinity Stark with 16, and
Malayah Montgomery with 12.
Alysia McLeod posted 7 points and 10 rebounds. Piedmont women's basketball finishes 8-2 on the season at home.
The Lady Bruins will head to Elizabeth City tomorrow evening as they face Mid Atlantic Christian University in their final game of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
