Winston-Salem, NC -- Just nine days ago, the Lady Bruins upset Hiwassee College in the Tiger's gym, 62-51. As the two teams faced off again, Hiwassee College sought revenge and squeaked a win out over the Bruins.
The game was evenly matched between the two teams as the score was tied 5 times throughout the 40 minutes. The final tie of the game occurred at point 61. With 4.9 seconds to go, Hiwassee College hit a shot off one foot.It was this bucket that gave the Tiger's the lead and victory, 63-62.
"We dropped a tough one tonight to a well coached Hiwassee team," expressed Coach Toccara Tatum. "We fought hard and the little mistakes caught up with us in the end".
All 62 points from the Bruins were split between 6 Piedmont players, 4 posting double digits. Malayah Montgomery and Alysia McLeod recorded 14 points while Noni Kuumba and Mychala Wolfe put up 12 and 10 respectively.
Piedmont will head on the road this Saturday as they travel to Virginia University of Lynchburg. Tip off is scheduled for 6 PM (EST). The Lady Bruins will have home court advantage one last time as they host Senior Night on Monday, February 18th.
