POINT LOOKOUT, MO - The Piedmont International University volleyball team went 0-3 at the NCCAA National Tournament against Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Judson University, and Mid-American Christian University.
Game 1: Southwestern Assemblies of God vs. Piedmont
In match number one, SAGU out hit Piedmont .028 to .242 but logged 25 kills. Sophomore McKenzie Mastin led the Bruins with a match-high of 6 kills. Senior
Olivia Bullard and junior
Cydne Moore added four kills each.
PIU logged three aces during the three-set match.
Daylin Schweizer,
Alexia Infante, and
Chelsea Edwards had one ace apiece.
Cameron Dubuc registered 13 digs, while Mastin and Infante added eight.
The Lions finished the Bruins 11-25, 21-25,15-25.
Game 2: Judson vs. Piedmont
The Eagles of Judson overcame the Bruins in three straight sets, 22-25, 15-25, 17-25.
Piedmont recorded a total of 27 kills. Mastin had a match-high of 9 kills, while
Virgillia Jones and Bullard added seven and five kills each.Â
The Bruins' defense recorded 45 digs. Dubuc, Mastin, and Infante registered 15, 7, and 7 digs, respectively.
Chelsea Edwards finished the match with 20 assists.
Game 3: Mid-American Christian vs. Piedmont
In the final match of the season, Piedmont fell to the Evangles 15-25, 11-25, 23-25.
MACU out hit the Bruins .126 to .268 but logged 29 kills. Sophomore McKenzie Mastin led PIU with eight kills.
Mariah Robinson and Jones added six kills each.
The Bruins led the Evangles in blocking with Jones registering three blocks total. Bullard added one of her own. Piedmont recorded 71 digs led by
Cameron Dubuc with 20 digs, Mastin with 12, and Infante with 10.
The Bruins finished the 2019 season with a 16-15 record.Â
