ADVANCE, NC - The Piedmont International Lady Bruins cruised to their fifth victory of the season on Wednesday night as they beat Johnson and Wales, 5-1.
The freshman class dominated the game for the Lady Bruins as freshman winger
Adellah McManus and freshman midfielder
Hayden Pacheco scored a pair.Â
It was McManus who opened up the scoring in the 17th minutes as senior midfielder
Ashli Mincey's cross found her in the box.
Two minutes later, Pacheco would grab her first on the night with McManus pushing down the left wing before cutting it back to the center of the box for a clinical finish and the 2-0 lead.Â
In the 27th minute, Pacheco would double her tally. Sophomore forward
Cierra Josey dropped the ball back to Pacheco for a shot from the edge of the box that flew into the top of the net.Â
The Wildcats would score one before halftime as Eboni Mantague got on the score sheet slotting home past the keeper for the 3-1 scoreline going into the half.
Less than three minutes into the second half, Josey scored a goal of her own. She received a pass from McManus before beating a defender and finishing the ball into the far post.
McManus would finish off the score sheet in the 59th minute when junior midfielder
Ariana Gonzalez played her in behind the defense before slotting home past the charging goalkeeper.Â
The Lady Bruins had control from start to finish with the shot count tallying 27-9 in favor of PIU.Â
Piedmont International University's Head Coach
Kyle Neal said, "[I'm] really happy with the result tonight. We created a lot of chances and were able to keep the ball comfortably in the second half. The defense played great and limited their opportunities all night."
The Lady Bruins will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to NC Wesleyan for a 4 PM kickoff in Rocky Mount, NC.Â
