Lady Bruins Monopolize on the Mid Atlantic Mustangs

Winston-Salem, NC -- With only five players playing for the Mid Atlantic Christian Mustangs (3-13), the Lady Bruins (10-9) capitalized on the game opportunity. PIU's involvment of their 3 point shooters and players in the paint lead to their 81-31 victory.

Zyniah Kesler had a season high of 22 points on the night. Kesler also added 9 rebounds to her stats. Malayah Montgomery was the other Lady Bruin to score in the double digit with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

Together these two Bruins had the play of the game! In the final quarter, Malayah Montgomery dove on the ground to grab a loose ball from the Mustangs. While still laying on the floor, Montgomery tossed the ball over her head without looking to Zyniah Kesler who was running down the court. Kesler drove up and made the layup.

The Lady Bruins have won 6 of their last 7 games. Their first loss in the 2019 season came against Warren Wilson College at the buzzer, 75-77.

Virgillia Jones, a new addition to the team, had a large fan section cheering her on as she appeared in her first colliagate game verse the Mustangs. She collected 2 points and 6 rebounds.

The Lady Bruins look to their next match at Johnson & Wales Univerisy on Thursday evening at 6 PM.

"We are just going to have to play hard and stay mentally focused," said Coach Toccara Tatum on facing JWU Wildcats. "Sometimes when we have a break in there we seem to lose focus, but as long as we keep our eyes on the prize, we should come out with a win."
