Winston-Salem, NC -- If there is one thing that Piedmont International University Men's Basketball can be credited with, it is playing very intense and crowd-pleasing basketball. A prime example of this is Piedmont's January 6th victory over Johnson and Wales University.
Nashawn Carter led the Bruins with 24 points on the board, followed closely by
Tamir Glenn with 21.
Glenn dominated the first half, scoring 17 of his 21 points. When asked about
Glenn's notable first half,
Coach Josh Howard said, "We've been waiting for that!"
At the end of the first half, the Bruins were down by 3 points with a score of 38-41. With the first half out of the way, the Bruins came into the second half ready to win. The second half was high paced with the teams pretty evenly matched. The lead was back and forth in an impressive battle the entire second half.
Colton Bishop and
Nash Carter were vital players in the second half.
Carter had four steals, and
Bishop followed with three. In the second half,
Carter scored 19 points, including some huge free throws. The Bruins put on a show for fans both offensively and defensively. With a roaring crowd, the Bruins continued to push through the second half.
With 30 seconds on the game clock, the Bruins were down by 2. From that time to the end of the game,
Carter scored 5 points, for a final score of 76 - 73 and a Bruins victory.
