Down Go the Eagles! Piedmont beats Pensacola Christian 81-73

On Saturday, January 13, the Piedmont International University Bruins clipped the wings of the Pensacola Christian College Eagles.

Winston-Salem, NC -- On Saturday, January 13, the Piedmont International University Bruins clipped the wings of the Pensacola Christian College Eagles.

Early in the game, the Eagles pulled away from the Bruins with a 6 point lead. The Bruins trailed by as much as six until about halfway through the first half when they tied the score at 14. Although they trailed for the beginning of the first half, the Bruins were able to close the gap and even take the lead from the Eagles a few times. The Bruins and the Eagles fought for the lead throughout the half; it was not until 16 minutes into the game that the Bruins ran the lead up by 8 points, for a score of 31 - 23.

With less than 10 seconds left in the half, Tamir Glenn made a strong move towards the basket to conclude the first half with a score of 35 - 29. Glenn's basket at the end of the half pushed the team's momentum higher, which showed in the second half. Coming out of the first half, Nash Carter led the scoring with 10 points. Robert Neal had an impressive first half, consistently crashing the boards and finishing the half with 8 points.

The Bruins came in the second half strong with Colton Bishop scoring 3 points within the first minute of play. About 3 minutes in, the Bruins had extended their lead to 13 points. The Eagles continued to fight hard throughout the half, and with about 11 minutes to play, they had tied the score at 53. The battle continued throughout the second half, and with around 6 minutes left in the half, the Bruins had brought their lead back to 11 to make the score 68 - 57.

By the end of the game, Nash Carter continued to lead offensively with 20 points. Robert Neal contributed both offensively and defensively ending the game with 13 points and multiple offensive and defensive rebounds. In the end, the Bruins defeated the Eagles with a final score of 81 - 73.
