Carolina University Announces 2026-27 Indoor Track & Field Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Carolina University men's and women's track & field programs have announced their 2026-27 indoor schedule as the Bruins prepare for their second season under Head Coach Caleb Thornburg.

Following a historic inaugural season, Carolina University enters year two looking to continue building the foundation of its track & field programs. The indoor slate features seven regular-season opportunities before the Bruins turn their attention to the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in February.

Carolina made an immediate impact on the national stage during its first season. At the 2026 NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, Lamine Diop captured the national championship in the men's high jump after clearing 1.95 meters, becoming the first individual national champion in Carolina University history. Teammate Jaylen Killens-McIntyre joined Diop on the podium with a third-place finish after clearing 1.85 meters, giving the Bruins two of the top three finishers in the event. The historic performances provided an early milestone for Thornburg's young program and established momentum heading into its second season.

"We are extremely excited about the schedule we have put together for our second indoor season," Thornburg said. "Our first year gave us an opportunity to establish the foundation and identity of this program, and now we are looking forward to taking another step forward. This schedule will put our student-athletes in competitive environments throughout the season and give them opportunities to continue improving as we work toward being at our best when championship season arrives."

Carolina will open the indoor campaign on November 14 at the Get Your Marks Meet at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

After the holiday break, the Bruins return to competition with a busy January. Carolina is scheduled to compete at the Roanoke College Finn Pincus Invitational on January 15-16 and the Mondo College Invitational at JDL on January 16.

The following week will provide the Bruins with two more opportunities for competition. Carolina is scheduled for the Liberty Open on January 21-22 before returning to JDL for the Mondo Fast Friday Invitational on January 22.

The final stretch of the regular season begins on February 5 with the ASICS Camel City Sprints at JDL. Carolina will also travel to Roanoke College for the Bast-Cregger Invitational, scheduled for February 5-6.

The Bruins will then turn their attention toward the postseason and the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, scheduled for February 13-14.

With a national champion already highlighting the program's young history, Carolina University enters its second indoor season looking to build on the accomplishments of year one and continue establishing the Bruins on the regional and national stage.
