Box Score Winston-Salem, NC – The Carolina University Men's Basketball team hosted Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Tuesday night in hopes to avenge their downfall earlier this season. The game was a constant back-and-forth between the teams, but the Bruins ultimately fell short, dropping their second contest against the Mustangs with a score of 83-86
Within the first two minutes of the game, the Mustangs went on a 6-0 run due to a number of turnovers by the Bruins. A 3 pointer from Aundree Polk stopped the run and lit a spark for the home team, forcing a 7-2 run, all of which were scored by Polk. The back-and-forth began almost immediately, and while the Bruins were able to score, they struggled to find the defense to stop MACU's scoring drives. With seven minutes remaining in the first half, fans saw an offensive run for CU, which allowed them to see the lead for the first time all game.
The back-and-forth continued in the second half, which saw five lead changes within the first five minutes of play. Around the thirteen-minute mark, a set of three pointers by Christopher High and Cameron Buchanan gave the Bruins much needed offensive momentum to gain an eight-point lead forcing a timeout by MACU.
Some late misses by the Bruins and big plays by the Mustangs put MACU back on top with two minutes remaining, leaving no time for CU to recover.
With no answer to their opponent's offensive spark, CU fell with a final score of 83-86.
