WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University's cheerleading program competed in the program's inaugural cheerleading competition on Saturday, March 5th at the CCA Collegiate Championship in Fayetteville, North Carolina. In the team's debut, the program captured not only "Collegiate GameTime Champions," but also "Collegiate GameTime Grand Champions" the latter meaning they had the highest score in the entire collegiate GameTime division.
Head Coach, Kirby Talley, stated, "This weekend's wins were a culmination of endless hours of hard work and it was also an affirmation that this program is on the right track! The athletes achieved two zero deduction routines and gave 100% effort. It was so special to win in North Carolina, only a few hours from campus. We can't wait to bring those rings home to Carolina University."
The Carolina University cheerleading program is in its second year of existence with Coach Talley becoming head coach in April 2021. The program will be holding in-person tryouts on March 27, 2022, at Carolina University's recently renovated Willams Gymnasium.
