Men's Basketball Dominates at Home

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Carolina University Men's Basketball hosted Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Saturday, February 20th. The Bruins had split the previous two contests against the Mustangs on the road, but aimed to win the season series at home. The energy in Williams' Gymnasium was electric with the addition of The Bruins Cheer Team and CU took advantage. The Bruins raced out to a 9-0 lead capped off by a huge Ofoegbu dunk. Carolina University's top ranked scoring defense was on display for the rest of the first half as they held the Mustangs to just 24 points. The Bruins were up 46-24 and never looked back. Carolina University would cruise in the second half and earn the 95-68 victory.

Carolina University showed why they are the #1 ranked scoring defense in the NCCAA in this one as they stifled the Mustangs early and often. MACU was held to 35.8% shooting from the field and 25.7% from downtown. Offensively, the Bruins were led by Micah Cooper and Kester Ofoegbu. Cooper scored 28 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and had 7 assists on 72.7% shooting. Ofoegbu also flirted with a double-double as he scored 23 points and 9 rebounds on 75% shooting. Maurice Peyton Jr. continued to be a spark off the bench as he came in to score 14 points and dish out 4 assists. Andrue Aguilera also reached double-figures with 12 points including three 3-pointers.

The Bruins will next be in action at Voorhees College on Wednesday, February 24th. Carolina University held on to beat the Tigers at home earlier this season and are excited for the competitve rematch against this NAIA opponent.
